Crispy Wonton Strips
A must-have topping for salads and soups! Enjoy these crispy strips as is or toss with seasonings for flavorful snacks.
8-10 sheets Frieda’s Wonton Wrappers
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive or vegetable oil, or use cooking spray
Salt and pepper, to taste
Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
Stack wonton wrappers and using scissors or a knife, cut into 1/4-inch-wide strips, then place in bowl, separating layers. Add oil, salt, pepper, and/or other desired seasoning, then toss to coat.
On baking sheet lined with parchment paper or nonstick baking liner, spread strips in single layer. (If using cooking spray, toss strips with salt and pepper in bowl, spread strips onto baking sheet, then spray with cooking spray.) Bake until golden brown and lightly crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Let cool before serving.
Wonton strips can be made 1-2 days ahead. Once cooled completely, store in an air-tight container.
- Sesame: When seasoning with salt and pepper, also add 2 tablespoons sesame seeds and a few drops sesame oil.
- Cinnamon Sugar: Mix together 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 heaping teaspoon ground cinnamon with pinch of salt. Instead of seasoning with salt and pepper, season with half of cinnamon-sugar mixture. Sprinkle with rest when hot out of oven.
- Garlic Parmesan: When seasoning with salt and pepper, also add 1 clove minced or pressed garlic and 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese. Bonus: Got truffle-flavored oil or truffle salt? Either add a few drops of truffle-flavored oil before baking or sprinkle with truffle salt afterward.
