Who is Frieda Caplan?
In 1962, Frieda Rapoport Caplan founded the first woman-owned wholesale produce company in the United States. Caplan became recognized world-wide for her role in introducing and marketing the Chinese Gooseberry, aka Kiwifruit, to U.S. supermarkets. Frieda and her company went on to introduce many more specialty produce items to U.S. supermarkets, including Fresh Brown Mushrooms, Alfalfa Sprouts, Spaghetti Squash, Jicama, Shallots, Sunchokes®, Oroblancos, Sugar Snap Peas, Habanero Chiles, and Black Garlic, just to name a few.

Can I order products online?
Yes, many of our products can be purchased via our Amazon.com storefront. Peruse our Products on this site and click on the “shop now” tab for each product for purchasing information. Please note that many of our products are seasonally available. In addition, perishable produce items must be shipped express with ice, driving up the shipping fees. For this reason, we recommend that you Frieda’s products from your local supermarket produce manager when possible. Visit the Find Frieda’s page for more information.

I can’t find the expiration date on my product.
Many of our packaged products are stamped or labeled with a production code. Please send us an email here, including this code, along with the name of the product and the store where you purchased it. If you cannot find a code, we still may be able to help you determine the expiration or recommended shelf life. How do I store Vanilla Beans?
When you bring Frieda’s Vanilla Beans home from the grocery store, keep them in a cool, dry place. Once opened, store them in an airtight container and place in a cool, dry place.
