Basmati Rice Pilaf


1 6 -ounce package Basmati Rice (about 1 cup)
2 cups water
1/3 cup light or dark raisins
1/3 cup sliced green onion
1 teaspoon Frieda’s Fresh Ginger Root, grated
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves or cardamom
1/2 cup Frieda’s Pine Nuts or slivered almonds


In a 2-quart saucepan combine rice, water, raisins, onion, ginger root, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 to 30 minutes, or until rice is tender. Stir in pine nuts.
