Use your slow cooker to make this easy, warming mulled cider.
2 quarts apple cider or apple juice
1/4 to 1/3 cup Frieda’s Mulling Spice
2 sticks of Frieda’s Cinnamon Sticks
Cheesecloth and kitchen string
Add any zest or rind of your favorite citrus fruits for a brighter flavor
Note: Adjust amount of spice to suit your palate, but don’t overdo it, as it can become bitter if too strong or steeped too long.
Place the mulling spice in a small cheesecloth bag. Add the bag to the cider. If you don’t have cheesecloth, you can put the spices in loose and then just strain the cider to serve.
Slow cooker: Pour cider into a slow cooker with the spice bag, cinnamon sticks, and citrus peels. Cover and cook on LOW 2 to 4 hours. Remove the spice and serve warm.
Stove top: Pour cider into a slow cooker with the spice bag, cinnamon sticks, and citrus peels. Over medium high heat, bring the cider to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the spice and serve warm.
