Thomcord Grape Pie


4 cups Frieda’s Thomcord Grapes, washed and stemmed
1 recipe double crust pastry
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
Coarse or sanding sugar


In medium bowl, combine grapes, sugar, and lemon juice. Mix well and set aside.

Prepare pastry and roll out half. Line standard 9-inch pie pan with pastry.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Stir cornstarch into filling, then fold into pie shell, smoothing top with a spoon. Roll out remaining pastry and put on top of pie. Trim and flute edges. Brush top with ice water, then sprinkle with coarse sugar. Cut steam vents into top of pie. Bake 30 minutes.

Reduce heat to 375 degrees and bake an additional 30 minutes.

Transfer pie to wire rack. Let cool at least 2 hours before serving.
