Why does the label on your brown coconuts say “water not intended for drinking”?

Our brown coconuts and young coconuts are handled and enjoyed differently. Our brown coconuts are a mature, cured product intended primarily for their delicious coconut meat. Because they are not handled and refrigerated as a ready-to-drink beverage product, the label states that the water inside is not intended for drinking.

Young coconuts (like the Tikis, Sillies or Hulas), on the other hand, are specifically harvested, handled and refrigerated with their refreshing coconut water in mind — so drink up!
